    Basics

Values and their types, variables, operators, strings, decisions, loops, and functions.

Every FutureBlitz program is made of the parts in this area: values of built-in types, the variables that hold them, the operators that combine them, and the decisions, loops, and functions that control what runs. The rules are strict where mistakes are common. Types never change silently, a variable must be declared before it’s used, and in a debug build a number that overflows stops the program instead of giving a wrong answer. Learn these first; every later area builds on them.

    Tutorials

    1. Values and types Integers, floating-point numbers, Bool, String, and Char, and how As converts a value to another type.
    2. Variables and constants Local, Const, and Global, what each can see, and why a variable has a value before it's read.
    3. Operators Arithmetic, comparisons, logic, the conditional operator, and bitwise operators.
    4. Strings and Char Interpolation and format specs, String's Methods, characters, and raw and multi-line strings.
    5. Making decisions (If, Select) Run code only when a condition holds, with If, ElseIf, and Else, or pick a case with Select.
    6. Loops Count with For, go over values with For ... In, repeat with While, Repeat, and Loop, and leave early.
    7. Functions Parameters and results, defaults and named arguments, several results at once, ByRef, and overloads.
    8. Function values and lambdas Pass functions as values, write them inline as lambdas, and keep state in closures.

The rules behind this area are in the language reference.
