    fb mcp

    Gives an AI assistant tools that know FutureBlitz, over MCP.

    fb mcp [folder]

    fb mcp is a Model Context Protocol server, which an AI assistant starts and talks to over stdin and stdout. Its tools let the assistant read FutureBlitz’s own docs and check its code against fb, rather than guess from other languages. It serves the package the folder is in, or the current folder’s.

    ToolWhat it does
    search_docsSearches the language reference and std’s reference for words, like For loop or string split, and gives the sections and declarations that have them, best first
    lookupFinds a name’s declarations, like Split or String.Split: the package’s own, as its files are saved, std’s with their docs, and the built-in functions
    checkChecks code for errors without building or running it, as fb check does, and gives each error and warning with its fix when it has one: a snippet as a program of its own, a .fb file in the package’s folder, with text that isn’t saved if it’s given, or the whole package, or each .fb file of a folder that isn’t one
    formatFormats code as fb fmt does, and gives it back, writing nothing

    The server gives the assistant a short primer on FutureBlitz as it starts, the same one fb new writes as a package’s AGENTS.md. Paths in what it gives are from the folder it runs in, as fb check’s are.

    Its tools run nothing of the package’s: a build step’s files are what fb build last made, and a step that hasn’t run is an error that says fb build runs it. They read only the package’s .fb files. A call runs while the server goes on answering, and one that takes longer than 30 seconds is answered with an error.

    Options

    fb mcp takes only the folder.

    Setting it up

    • VS Code: the FutureBlitz extension offers it to Copilot’s agent mode, with nothing to set up.

    • Other assistants start it as the command fb mcp, in the package’s folder. One that reads a JSON file of servers, like Cursor’s .cursor/mcp.json:

      {
        "mcpServers": {
          "futureblitz": { "command": "fb", "args": ["mcp"] }
        }
      }

    An assistant that starts it somewhere else names the package’s folder: "args": ["mcp", "/home/ada/game"].
